The Hawai'i Island Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is an organization dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality across Hawai'i Island. It focuses on addressing health disparities in underserved communities through education, training, and workforce development initiatives. By partnering with local schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations, AHEC aims to inspire and prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals. The center also provides continuing education for current practitioners, promotes health careers among students, and supports community health projects. Through these efforts, AHEC seeks to enhance the overall health and well-being of Hawai'i Island residents.

Pre-Health Career Corps

The Pre-Health Career Corps (PHCC) is a FREE year-round AHEC program for middle school, high school, and college students who are interested in pursuing careers in health.

AHEC Scholars

The Hawai'i Island AHEC Scholars program also offers various volunteer and mentorship opportunities year-round for health career pathways & Pre-Health Career Corps Students​​.
